TranslatePress + MCP: let AI manage languages and update translations
Connect TranslatePress to Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT through NibWP's MCP server. The AI lists languages and translations, finds strings that are missing or inconsistent, and updates them in bulk — so the glossary is enforced and the gaps are closed without clicking through the visual editor string by string.

TranslatePress translates the rendered page, string by string, which is wonderful for control and slow for volume. Hundreds of strings per language, a brand term translated three different ways, new strings appearing after every content change. NibWP exposes TranslatePress as typed MCP tools — list languages and strings, read a translation, create and update translations — so the bulk work is done by prompt.
Ask which strings are untranslated in Spanish and get a list. Fill them from the source with your glossary applied, as a reviewable batch. Find every place 'Checkout' was translated inconsistently and make it one term. Plan first, log after.
TranslatePress is one of the 45+ integrations inside NibWP's WordPress MCP server — 4 typed TranslatePress tools on top of 190+ WordPress tools. The full tool reference lives on the TranslatePress integration page; this page is about what those tools let you do.
What AI can do in TranslatePress
Languages and status
Which languages are active and how complete each is — read as data.
Strings as data
Source strings and their translations per language, filterable by missing, changed or containing a term.
Fill the gaps
Untranslated strings drafted from the source with your glossary applied, as a batch you review.
Consistency fixes
Find a term translated three ways and make it one, across every string that contains it.
Audits
Missing, stale or machine-translated strings that were never reviewed — found in one read.
After every content push
Chain 'find new strings → translate → review' into a repeatable run.
The TranslatePress tools NibWP exposes
Every TranslatePress capability is a typed MCP tool with a schema the AI client can read, so it calls the right thing with the right arguments instead of guessing at your database. Read tools are free to explore; write tools go through the approval flow.

Example prompts
Plain English is the interface. These are the kinds of requests agencies run against TranslatePress every day:
- “Which strings are untranslated in Spanish?”
- “Translate the missing Spanish strings from English using our glossary, and show me the batch before saving.”
- “Everywhere 'Checkout' was translated in French, use 'Paiement'.”
- “How complete is each language?”
- “List strings containing 'NibWP' in German and make sure the brand name is untranslated.”
How it works with TranslatePress
There is no new dashboard to learn. You describe an outcome, NibWP plans it, and you approve before anything is written.
- Connect — install NibWP, connect Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT or any MCP client. TranslatePress is detected automatically and its tools appear in the client.
- Describe — ask what is missing or describe the rule. NibWP reads languages and strings first and shows the batch — every string and its new translation — before saving.
- Approve — NibWP shows the plan: which records it will create or change, and what will stay untouched. Nothing happens until you say yes.
- Done — it writes real TranslatePress data through the plugin's own APIs and reports back in plain English, with every change in the audit log.
Why not just a generic AI?
A general-purpose assistant can write text about TranslatePress; it cannot safely operate it. The difference is structure, context and control.
A generic assistant
- Translates in a chat for you to paste string by string
- Cannot see which strings are missing or inconsistent
- Cannot update a translation across every occurrence
TranslatePress + NibWP
- Reads languages and strings from TranslatePress as data
- Fills gaps and enforces terminology in bulk, batch shown first
- Updates translations through TranslatePress
Safe by default
NibWP is built for agencies running client sites, so control and traceability come first:
- Nothing is written without your approval — you see the plan first, and you can run in draft mode.
- Every action is recorded in a full audit trail, per site and per user.
- It runs on TranslatePress's own functions and APIs — your data stays on your server, nothing is copied to a third-party service.
- Batches are shown string by string before saving and are rate-limited; deleting translations is never part of an ordinary connection.
