Connecting Cursor and Windsurf

One NIBWP endpoint works with every major MCP client. This guide covers two popular editors — Cursor and Windsurf — though the steps are nearly identical everywhere thanks to the config generator.

Before you start

Install NIBWP, enable AI Abilities, and mint a least-privilege application password. Decide up front what the agent should be allowed to do; you can always widen scope later.

Connecting Cursor

Open the config generator, choose Cursor, and copy the snippet. Paste it into your Cursor MCP configuration, drop in the application password, and reload. Cursor runs the handshake and lists every tool your token allows.

Connecting Windsurf

The flow is the same: pick Windsurf in the generator, copy, paste into the Windsurf config, add your password, and reload. Because both clients speak MCP, the endpoint and tools are identical — only the wrapper differs.

Verify the connection

Ask the agent to list your recent posts. NIBWP routes it to nibwp/wp-list-posts and returns structured JSON. If the posts come back, you are connected.
