Launch an online course platform with Tutor LMS

A full walkthrough: turn transcripts and outlines into a complete Tutor LMS academy — courses, quizzes and sales pages — through NIBWP.

Online courses are a brilliant business and a miserable build. The teaching is the easy part; the assembly — typing every topic, lesson and quiz into the LMS, keying every answer, writing a sales page — is where weeks disappear. This guide collapses that assembly into a conversation. Using the Tutor LMS Builder skill and NIBWP, you will turn raw material — a webinar transcript, a PDF, an outline — into a complete, validated, sellable course, then generate its landing page with the Course Mini-site skill.

This is not a glorified outline generator. The Builder skill plans a real curriculum, writes actual lesson content, generates quizzes with correctly-keyed questions, validates the whole tree against pedagogy and Tutor’s own schema, and writes it straight into Tutor LMS through audited tool calls. You review and price; the agent builds.

TL;DR

Set your instructor and pricing defaults once, feed the Builder a transcript or outline, and it plans and validates a full course — topics, lessons, real quizzes — then writes it into Tutor LMS. The Mini-site skill then builds a conversion-ready sales page bound to the live course.

Who this is for

Course creators sitting on a backlog of webinars and PDFs, coaches who teach the same material repeatedly, and agencies building course catalogues for clients. You bring the expertise and the source material; the skill turns it into structured, sellable courses — fast enough to build a whole catalogue, not just one course.

What you will build

  • A multi-course academy assembled from existing content
  • Courses with real curriculum: topics, lessons and keyed quizzes
  • Lesson content with intro, substance and takeaway — not just titles
  • A conversion-ready sales page per course, bound to live data
  • Pricing, instructor and enrollment wired up in Tutor LMS

Before you start

You need Tutor LMS active (free core works; Pro unlocks extras like assignments), the Tutor LMS Builder and optionally Course Mini-site Pro Skills installed, NIBWP with a connected MCP client, and your source material — a transcript, an outline, a PDF or even a detailed URL. The richer the source, the richer the course.

Validation is the safety netThe Builder blocks empty topics, unkeyed quiz questions and price mismatches before anything is written to Tutor. You never ship a half-built course. If validation fails, it returns fix-hints you can act on — nothing persists until the tree is sound.

Step 1 — Preflight: set your defaults once

Before building, tell the skill the things that are the same across your courses: who the instructor is, whether courses are free or paid, the default structure (how many topics, whether every topic gets a quiz). This preflight means you do not repeat yourself for every course — you set it once and build many.

claude > nibwp
You: Preflight: instructor = me, pricing = paid (49 USD default),\n every topic gets one quiz, 5-8 topics per course.\nPreflight set - the Builder will use these defaults

Step 2 — Feed the source and plan the course

Now hand over the raw material. The skill ingests your transcript, outline or PDF, plans a curriculum — a logical arc of topics and lessons — and dry-run validates it before writing anything. You see the proposed tree and can adjust before it commits.

claude > nibwp
You: Build a paid course from this 40-minute webinar transcript.\n 5 topics, a quiz per topic.\ntutorlms plan-course { source: transcript, validate: true }\n- planned: 5 topics, 18 lessons, 5 quizzes (validation passed)\nPlan ready - review the tree or say build

Step 3 — Build the course into Tutor

When you are happy with the plan, one instruction persists the entire course — topics, lessons with real content, quizzes with correctly-keyed questions — into Tutor LMS through the audited integration. What would have been a day of data entry is a single call.

claude > nibwp
You: Build it.\ntutorlms build-course { ... }\nCourse #128 built - 5 topics, 18 lessons, 5 quizzes, 42 questions keyed
It writes real lessons, not titlesEach lesson gets an intro, substance and a takeaway — with a video embed where the source implies one. The first draft is genuinely usable, not a skeleton you have to flesh out.

Step 4 — Generate the sales page

A course with no landing page does not sell. The Course Mini-site skill reads the live course and builds a polished sales page — hero, what-you-will-learn, curriculum, instructor, pricing and an enroll CTA — bound to the real course data and saved as a draft WordPress page linked to the course.

claude > nibwp
You: Build a sales page for course #128.\ntutorlms-minisite build { course: 128, sections: 7 }\nLanding page drafted - bound to live course data, linked both ways

Step 5 — Review, price and publish

Everything is editable native Tutor data and a normal WordPress page. Walk the course in the Tutor editor, tweak a lesson or a quiz question, confirm the price, polish the landing page, then publish. The skill got you to a strong first draft in minutes; the final 10% of judgement stays yours.

Going further

  • Build a catalogue — feed the agent ten outlines and get ten courses, each with its own sales page.
  • Launch emails — with the FluentCRM integration, draft an announcement sequence for each course.
  • Refine over time — use the skill’s refine action to add topics or lessons to an existing course.
  • Regenerate pages — after big edits, re-run the Mini-site skill to refresh the landing page from the live data.
  • Webinar pipeline — make “transcript in, course out” a standing process after every live session.

Troubleshooting

Validation failed. Read the fix-hints — usually an empty topic or an unkeyed question. Adjust the source detail or accept the skill’s suggestion, then rebuild. Nothing is written until validation passes.

A Pro feature did not apply. Assignments and multi-instructor need the matching Tutor Pro addon active. Core course, lesson and quiz building works on Tutor Free.

The sales page looks generic. Give the Mini-site skill more context — a tagline, a target audience — and regenerate. It binds to live data but takes direction on tone.

FAQ

Does it work on Tutor LMS Free?
Yes — core course, lesson and quiz building uses Tutor Free. Pro-only extras gate on the matching Tutor Pro addon.
Can I edit a generated course?
Yes — it is native Tutor data, fully editable in the normal Tutor editor afterwards.
Will it overwrite my existing courses?
No — it creates new courses. Use the refine action to extend an existing one.
How long does a course take to build?
Most generate in a few minutes once the plan is approved — the agent plans, validates, then writes in one pass.
Can it make the quizzes too?
Yes — true/false, single- and multiple-choice and open-ended questions, correctly keyed and written into Tutor’s quiz tables.
A course that used to take a day of typing now takes minutes of prompting — validated, and ready to sell.
